Frequently Asked Questions
Should you have a question that is now answered below, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Please open and inspect within 5 days of receipt. To preserve your leather prior to use, we recommend the following:
Avoid Folding or Crumpling: To maintain its shape and quality, always roll the leather with the finish side inward on a cardboard roll.
Store Carefully: Place in a cool, dry location – away from any extreme heat or moisture. Unroll immediately upon receipt. Store on a horse or similar apparatus.
All leather must be inspected within 5 days of receipt and stored in compliance with the storage and care guidelines detailed above
Leather that is cut, marked, upholstered, or altered in any way cannot be returned.
Custom/special order items are considered final sale and may not be returned.
Please note that leather is a natural material, and its unique beauty lies in the inherent markings and variations. These characteristics are not signs of defect, but rather qualities to be cherished and embraced as they make each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
Return requests should be submitted to your Sales Representative or Account Manager.
If approved, returns must be shipped within 30 days.
Returns are subject to a restocking fee of up to 25%.
Overage should be kept to 10% or less if possible. However, Moore & Giles does not cut hides, so overage may exceed 10%, especially for small orders.
Leather will have a slightly higher waste than fabric; however, the yield and waste will depend upon the application. Please direct this question to your furniture manufacturer.
Color variation should be expected, as devices may display tone differently. Variation in texture can be found throughout the hide of some leathers, resulting in large grain near the edge and smaller grain in the center. The same is true with color. Expect to see some levels of variation throughout the hide – depending on the tannage and finish types. A sample should never be considered an exact snapshot of the entire hide.
If the leather is in stock, the order will be processed in 2-5 business days, depending on the complexity of the order and the volume of orders being processed at that time.
Moore & Giles accepts check and wire transfer payments, as well as check-by-phone (ACH) and Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit card payments.
Lead time for new production is 8-10 weeks. We can create custom colors of any of our articles, however, a minimum order quantity of 3,000 sq feet applies for most leathers. For customer color question, reach out to hello@mooreandgiles.com
