NBAA 2015 Recap
Several members of our Moore & Giles team recently traveled together to take part in the National Business Aviation Association event (NBAA). Arriving in style in the Moore & Giles Airstream, our team set up shop in Las Vegas for the 3-day event. This year’s NBAA marked our eighth year of participation at this aviation show.
More than 27,000 key aviation contacts from around the world, including current and prospective business aircraft owners, manufacturers and customers into one meeting place to get critical work accomplished. According to NBAA, the premier industry event offered, “1,000 exhibitors with the latest products and services and nearly 100 side-by-side business aircraft on static display. Dozens of education sessions to help business aircraft operators fly safely and efficiently.”
Chad Evans, Director of Aviation at Moore & Giles states, “NBAA is the premier event to connect with people within the aviation industry. We are able to share our collection of leathers with flight attendants, designers, pilots, DOM's, and completion centers from all over the world."
NBAA has been integral part of the Moore & Giles story as it has been the event that many of our aviation specific leathers have been launched. This year was no different—Moore & Giles launched two new, very special leather collections to its library—Orion & Celine.
Orion – Designed on the finest selection of South German raw material, Orion is an exquisite full grain, semi-aniline leather that offers rich, uniform color and a soft, luxurious hand. During tanning, an assortment of water-based mineral agents are used to impart the surface with a supple, drapey texture and a sophisticated matte finish. Premium dyes are also utilized to ensure superior color translation and color consistency across the hide. From start to finish, Orion’s production is managed exclusively by the tannery to ensure premium quality of the finished product and superb cutting yields. All hides are treated in the drum to pass FAR 25.853 (i)(ii).
Celine (coming February 2016) – An exclusive French calfskin designed in partnership with a six-generation tannery that supplies leather to some of the world’s most esteemed fashion houses. Designed on the finest selection of French raw material, it is a luxurious and lightweight semi-aniline leather that showcases the beauty of a smooth calf grain. Marked by its incredibly soft and drapey hand, it offers exceptional color consistency and uniform texture across the hides. Celine’s production is managed exclusively by the tannery to ensure superior quality of the finished product. Hides are inspected at each stage of the tanning process to achieve the best possible selection and cutting yields. All hides are treated in the drum to pass FAR 25.853 (i)(ii).
Another notable highlight from NBAA 2015; JetModa formally rolled out its new magazine. Its publishers were on hand passing out copies of their first issue at their booth. According to JetModa, “We set out to create a similar mandate (to Apple Inc.), one visually sparse and clean – but rich, evocative and substantive in content. One can argue that there are plenty of aviation magazines out there – but our rebuttal to that is…well, our magazine itself. We rather believe in the notion that if you have to scream for attention, you’re not doing something right. And that was the opportunity for us, both as individuals and publishers – a chance to raise the bar and represent private aviation in a fresh, elevated way.”
As always, we are already looking forward to next year’s event set to be held November 1-3, 2016 in Orlando, FL. For more info on NBAA 2016, click here.
