Here at Moore & Giles we recently introduced a variety of new leather collections. These collections have taken their cue from couture and pay homage to the most sophisticated silhouettes found on the runway. They were designed to bring a high fashion perspective to upholstery and help designers infuse interiors with timeless style and refined elegance.
Couture Calf is an exclusive French calfskin designed in partnership with a six-generation tannery in France that specializes in supplying calfskin to the country's most prestigious fashion houses. Crafted-to-order by skilled tannery specialists on the finest selection of French raw material, it is marked by an exquisite, polished surface that showcases the distinctive, fine grain that makes calfskin one of the world’s most prized leathers.
A proprietary vegetable retannage imparts the hides with a firm, full-bodied hand to ensure that they take on an even more dazzling brilliance with age and with wear. The lack of extensive finishing in the tannage also highlights the unique color variation and inherent characteristics in each hide to accentuate this leather’s visual appeal. Available in an initial palette of rich, jewel-toned colors, Couture Calf was designed to bring a high fashion perspective to upholstery and help impart timeless sophistication and refined elegance to interiors. Average hide size is 18-2o square feet, a further testament to the authenticity and exceptional provenance of the raw material.
In addition to Couture Calf, the following collections were released:
Valentino: Stylish printed stripes of brass, blue and gray cascade down between stripes of hair-on-hide fur to create an aesthetic reminiscent of the most sophisticated striped patterns found on the runway.
Voyage: Designed by a boutique tannery in Italy, Voyage features a classic stitch pattern inspired by vintage driving gloves that is embossed on a soft and supple nubuck base.
Draker: Designed in Italy, Draker is dramatically dressed up with brushed precious metal finishes to impart it with a weathered, worn-in aesthetic. Tastefully sleek, it exudes a mix of refined rock and roll chic and dazzling runway-inspired edginess.
Custom Hand-tooled Leather: Boston-based artist and designer Casey Gunschel has created a new leather collection for Moore & Giles featuring traditional hand-tooling techniques on a canvas of beautiful vegetable tanned leathers. The collection consists of unique and highly customizable designs that are available on an exquisite palette of skirting leather crafted in the United States.
