All-New Organically Tanned Leather
The leather tanning process is constantly evolving. Here at Moore & Giles, we are always on the lookout for new and innovative ways of tanning leather. We are pleased to announce the launch of our first organically tanned leather, Olive Green. Olive Green Leather is produced with olive leaf extract using wet-green technology, which is 100 percent natural and completely biodegradable. Olive leaf tanning uses fallen or pruned leaves to create an organic tanning extract. Olive leaf tanning requires no felling of trees or field cultivation in competition for food production.
"We have been watching and experimenting with leathers in this category for a while but felt this was a product that differentiated itself from the field and stood out among its peers. For me, when you can tell the story of tanning a byproduct with a byproduct, you have a rich story to tell," according to Sackett Wood, President of Moore & Giles.
Our Olive Green leather is the most sustainable leather available - from start to finish. wet-green tanning extract is the highly awarded technology used in the tanning process to achieve mineral-free tanning. wet-green received a cradle to cradle GOLD certification, SEA - Sustainable Entrepreneur Award and was the Launch Nordic winner in 2015.
Olive Green will be ideal for the same applications as Moore & Giles' mineral-based tanned leathers - furniture in residential and commercial/public areas, automotive, aviation and marine. These leathers are an innovative addition to Moore & Giles' already existing portfolio.
The first article in the organically tanned Olive Green collection will be Eden. Eden is an exquisite full-grain semi-aniline leather designed on the finest selection of South German raw material. Eden offers rich uniform color and a soft, luxurious hand while the surface showcases a supple, drapey texture and a sophisticated matte finish.
Olive Green launched at HD Expo earlier this month in Las Vegas.
